Even when provided concrete evidence of dangerous practice, and near miss accidents, with documentation, logbooks and a call in, the Inspector sent had nearly no knowledge of the issues called for, and was noted saying " it's a new area that MOL has never previously had jurisdiction over" , so that means it's okay not to be educated on your job. MOL inspectors are nothing but revenue adders for the Ministry. They keep the corporation rolling with bankroll from the same easy to prosecute fines on sites over and over. Seen it for years.

Edit: it has will have been 3 months on September 6th and I still have not been assigned an employment officer. There must be a lot of employers that have contravened the employment laws.

I have been waiting a month now from this date for an employment officer to be assigned to my claim; which means that my claim has not been opened nor seen yet. Why is it taking this long? Yes I know the government is slow but I’ve never had to wait this long.

It is quite concerning that an important government agency is unreachable during regular business hours, with no one available to answer the toll-free number. This lack of accessibility is highly disappointing.

They only shut down small companies for safety concerns. Any large company, and any projects that are taxpayer funded and claim to be top tier or world class with safety are actually allowed to get away with the worst levels of safety. They maintain an illusion of safety and this ministry covers their tracks and gives them a heads up 3 days before they follow up with any inspections.

THEY ANSWER THE PHONE VERY RUDELY AND UNCARING. They don't even pretend to care about your issues. They will take your claim, so you should call but they need public relations training. They act as if you ARE THE ONE doing something wrong (YOU are NOT doing anything wrong and you are entitled to call). They DON'T EVEN GIVE YOU A CASE NUMBER UNLESS YOU SPECIFICALLY ASK. They ARE NOT good with FOLLOWING UP. THEY CARE SO LITTLE ABOUT HELPING YOU THAT THEY ARE QUICK TO RUSH YOU OFF THE PHONE AND GIVE YOU FALSE NUMBERS TO CALL. They gave me the real company name so I googled the right number and got help. YOU NEED TO KEEP CALLING TO FOLLOW UP!! Despite their poor attitude towards you, they are required to do something to help you. WHEN I find the number to report their bad behaviour when answering these calls I will edit this with the number to help you guys. I hope they take you seriously the first time you call but keep following up with the issue. If multiple people from the same company experience the same issue they are forced to see what the truth is and they may step in and properly help. There are normally other numbers to call in addition to calling this number. Maybe try to google or call 311 (information) to help.

The agent named Pamela does not handle my case appropriately, she even DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO SOME MATH TO CALCULATE OVERTIME PAYMENTS. She does not care about the case, just rush to close it, her supervisor Pauline called me with a poor altitude, what she meant is do not bother them since the case is closed, they do not have clear explanation, ridiculous.
It's better to solve the issue on your own or find a lawyer or reach to another organization advocating for employees, it's waste of time to file cases with them, the long waiting, uncaring altitude, unfair decision...

I unpaid 5,000$ and got 0$ in my freelance work, but MOL denied my claim because of the reason I used my own device. According to the email I received from the MOL states that the most important fact to have employee rights, whether the person is using their own devices or not, is the person is helping the business for the employer, but my case was not covered. I agree that freelance work is highly risky, but it was disappointing decision.
